In the Early Years Foundation Stage the children learn through play. We explore and follow the children’s interests. The children have recently shown an interest in ice cream vans. We turned our messy tray into an ice cream shop then went outside to build our very own ice cream van.

Our topic this term is growing and changing. We are thinking about how we have changed and what we can do now that we couldn’t do before. We have planted our own sunflower seeds, talked about what we need to do to take care of them and also followed an instruction map of how to grow a sunflower.

Counting, counting, counting! We have been using seed, beans and lots of other objects to develop our number skills. We have even been looking at addition and thinking about adding two numbers together! As always, we engage in lots of counting opportunities through the areas of provision. We used the play dough mats to add two numbers together.

We have also been learning to write and recognise our name. We use the iboard to explore the formation of the letters then use different media in the areas of provision to write our name independently.

Take a look at our class newsletter below  to see what we will be learning this term!

In EYFS, our parents love to stay and play too!
